No toll on incomplete highways

The Central government has decided not to charge toll on incomplete highways. As per the new policy being formulated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, concessionaires won?t be allowed to charge toll unless the highway is fully constructed. The earlier policy of giving a ?provisionally complete? rating for a highway which was 75% complete has been abandoned. Also, toll on highways where maintenance and upgrade has not been undertaken properly or not carried out on time, will have their toll charges reduced or frozen altogether. The proposal, which will amend the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008, will shortly be presented to the Central Cabinet for approval.
