The Smart Mobility event (September 13-15, Hyderabad) with two very important Expos – TrafficInfraTech Expo and Parking Infratech Expo – is just around the corner. As the expos are designed to integrate the multiple areas of traffic/ transport and parking management, this issue of Trafficinfratech also looks at these in national and international perspectives. During the last three years, traffic Infrastructure in India has been seeing rapid growth in terms of budgetary outlay, fund in-flow, new project approval for highways and expressways, fast completion of incomplete road projects, development of water transport, technology inclusion, development of dedicated industrial corridors, transit oriented developments, putting metro rail projects on fast track and also by way of improving the standards of construction processes.

On the urban mobility side, there has been added thrust on electric mobility and shared mobility. The government wants to improve the last mile connectivity and encourage para transit modes along with feeder buses.

Another focus area in this issue is vehicle telematics, the market for which is constantly growing especially because the need to reduce fatalities and injuries due to collisions has been accepted by the government, OEMs and also the vehicle owners. Moreover, telematics improves productivity and efficiency.

The venue of the September Traffic event is Hyderabad, the one city which is far ahead in terms of implementation of ITS and traffic regulations. The Highway Traffic Management system on the City’s outer ring road being put in place by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority will hopefully set new standards for other highways as well.

Trafficinfratech invites all traffic professionals to join us at the Smart Mobility event.
